The central aspect of any business is communication, and ensuring high levels of contact are maintained is a key concern for any company. Broadband and VoIP services are two of the most common aspects of business operations in the modern world, but what actually are they?

Whilst the vast majority of us will be familiar with the concept of broadband we are often unable to distinguish home services for business ones. VoIP, on the other hand, is a term not widely recognised except within specific business spheres. So what are the definitions for these terms? And what is the difference between home and business broadband?

Broadband: Home vs Business

There are a few simple differences between home and business broadband and they are related to the reliability and speed of the service. Business broadband services provide quicker speeds and increased reliability. Business broadband systems are available in a range of packages which offer varying speeds and capacities to suit all businesses, big and small.

When selecting your ownbusiness broadband packagethe main areas you should focus on are download capacity, upload speed and cap quantity. The former of these typically range from 8Mb to 24Mb, depending on your preference. Upload speeds can reach an astounding 1Mb with some providers but are also available in smaller incarnations of 448k and 832k for smaller companies. Cap quantity usually falls between 5Gb and 40Gb, once again depending on use and preference.

It is also important to look at the range of other features, such as a free wired router or call packages, which are offered with business broadband services. These can even be combined with VoIP services with some providers.
